The origin of the Marmajuelo grape is still shrouded in a halo of mystery. Juan Jesús, the winemaker in Viñátigo, discovered some strains in the late 90s on the island of El Hierro and brought it to the northwest of Tenerife. There are less than 25 hectares in the world, spread over small plots in Tenerife and El Hierro, where the vineyards rise above the ocean and benefit from its refreshing breeze.

​The maritime freshness of these places translates beautifully into the wine, with vibrant saline acidity to complement the tropical aromas of passion fruit, pineapple and citrus fruits.
