It is a blend of Mencía (85%), Garnacha Tintorera, Palomino, Portuguesa (Trousseau), Garnacha, and Gran Negro from vineyards with an average age of 73 years at about 800-970 meters above sea level. These altitudes ensure that the wine matures slowly and has the necessary acidity to give it structure and balance the muscular tannins that come from these old mountain vineyards. It passes through French barrels and foudres for 13 months before bottling.
